I have honestly never heard of a game building so much anticipation around the world since Ocarina of Time was released back in 1998. Japan finally got its release date of December 17, 2009, while America and Europe are hoping to see it around April. But as of now, that's still a rumor itself. So, in 64 days from now, Japan will be sitting pretty with a game we still won't see until far into next year. Kori does not want it. And I could not put enough on emphisis on not even if I tried. He doesn't like the new ATB, the summons, I think one of the characters, and couple other things, but I can't remember. But I'm slowly pressuring him to help me get the Japanese counterpart bargining with him that I'd personally put out $200 just to get my own PS3. But time will tell. I think its worth playing, but not worth the anticipation. Take away the new battle system and summons, the fancy glossy look, and you would hope to be playing the last greatest games since Final Fantasy VI and IX.
But enough of that, I am planning on getting it. Come my birthday, I will be putting the U.S.A. down really hard on it. And hopefully Kori and I will be one of the few that can pass judgement on this game before anyone else does. Do not care if I have to give my soul up to Kefka just to get it, I will, because I'm stubborn. So before it comes out, I wanted to give my pros and cons out what I think about this game, and hopefully this will give you better insight to go and buy it, or stay the hell away from it. So here it is, my pros and cons for this game.
Pros:
Has an indepth storyline (looks like VIII)
beautiful graphics
Might have a Zelda type battle system (I can't STAND turn-base RPG's)
Will have well worth its hours to put into
Bad ass rebels!
Cons:
FFXIII insignia looks like a joke, and looks like it has nothing to do with the game
WAY too many hours looking into the game (I'm guessing 60-75 hours just skimming it)
Has two counterparts: FF Versus XII clamiing to have Kingdom Hearts like characters and FF Agito XIII that's a portable version of FFXIII??? No! Bad Square!!
The characters are several pixles away from being real humans
Might have a good storyline, but has simular resemblance of Final Fantasy X-2 and XII
Is it going to be a good game, most likely. Is it going to have flaws your not going to like? Heh, even the greatest perfect games in the world have flaws. I'm not going to get into XIV, because that's just an automatic fail. XI is still operational, but there expecting you to fish out more money and expansion for a game that's really not my style to begin with. So, FAIL. So, as my attitude goes for these games, let me give me my basis on the series:
I. Decent enough
II. OH, HELL NO
III. Purely epic, and a shame it never came here
IV. Ehhh... love, love, kiss, kiss, the end, not for me
V. I'd fish a million dollars to play it once
VI. Amazing, but really not worth it
VII. Too much hype, and the series takes a turn for the worst
VIII. The last best game ever made
IX. Funny Chibi, yeah... decent enough, too much simularities though
X. Updated version of IV, next
XI. *hides*
XII. Please tell me your joking
------------------------------------------------------------------------
XIII. Possibly worth it
XIV. *hides deeper* how could you!?!?
So as you can see from my opinion, the series fell flat on its face after 6, made a heroic leap at 8, and has been faceplanting the series straight into hell afterwards. XIII though might make the comeback after 11 years, but its going back to faceplanting again afterwards. So, I guess I must wait for the PS5 to come out before another good one comes my way? Dunno, I really hope not.. I started playing the series in 2001 under FFVIII. And ever since then, with the help of Kori, I've discovered every one of them, learn the truth about the first 6, and have loads of stories of summons thanks to Kori. My personal favorite is III for the Famicom (not the NES english hack, or that sad excuse you call III for the DS.) But give me a Playstation, PSone, PS2, or the PS3 download (Japan only) and I'll pop in VIII right away, despite my lack of patience and understanding of the game.
HOWEVER, there is one thing I should point out. Nintendo lost the rights to the numbered series after VI. But then they got it back for the Crystal Chronicles series, and I stand more firm and proud than the soon to be 14 games out there. Crystal Chronicles, Rings of Fate, My Life as a King, Echoes of Time, and My Life as a Darklord, ALL worth playing fully! Crystal Bearers though.... *hides* its XIII meets Zelda... >< nooooo.
So, that's my statistics, opinions, and history over FFXIII and the games I've played to make it here to tell you this today. I thank Kori so much for helping me these past few years to help me understand the series. And I thank him for letting me choose to stand on the other side with Nintendo's series, but still being a good sport for letting me cross into Sony's territory when I want a good game to play. Without him, this wouldn't be here today, and I probably be playing Kirby as we speak. Instead, I'm going into my 3rd hour attempting to defeat Bahamut. I have a friggen quarter full Pepsi can one the A button, only touching it if the controller goes into sleep mode. -_- trust me, I'm going to run away after I finish typing this. So thanks! ^^
This has been my insight and review on Final Fantasy XIII and my personal history on the series. I hoped you enjoyed =^.^=
